Another one bites the dust

Yesterday, my irrepressible sister Abbey got engaged to long-time boyfriend Jeremy Thiel. The (very happy) couple is shown here. Jeremy is an x-ray technician at a hospital in the UP (where they met in high school), which cues in this scientist's mind the following obvious question:

What made Abbey fall for Jeremy?

A. He was the only man that could see right through her.
B. His personality was radiating.

I've got a bunch more that involve the bremsstrahlung effect and absorption coefficients, but I'll spare you.

Now, one significant logistical challenge to this anticipated union is that we are in very short order headed for France. I was unable to convince Abbey to hold the wedding either (a) in the next 60 days, or (b) two years from now, so this puts us in a predicament. As we mused on this, Jodi and I had an epiphany. Rather than spend thousands of dollars flying an entire family with young kids back to the U.S. for a wedding, why not bring the wedding to France? In fact, we decided we would be happy to pay Abbey and Jeremy whatever our travel costs would be to have them come and tie the knot amongst the vineyards and the lavender of Provence.

So, we are currently bidding $5,000 to have the wedding held in France. If you would like to have the wedding held in the U.S. (or elsewhere), feel free to place a higher bid. But remember, I'm going to be getting paid in Euros. ;)

Grace and peace.

You crack me up, Matthew. A and B are both true, I'll have to tell Jeremy, I'm sure he'll enjoy the humor.

I don't think that all my friends and all my relatives are going to want to fly to France for a wedding...so if I didn't have any relationships with any other people, I would definitely take you up on your offer.

Hm...maybe I should have held out longer to see what others would bid...

Thanks for the shout out on your blog. Love you!
