Kid Update

Well, it's been awhile, so I thought I would just post a little update on what's been happening with the Jewell kids.

Asher is doing well. He still loves his Transformers and super heroes, and creating new and exciting things to go along with the universe he's made up. He's taking some extra French lessons one day a week at school. They have a 2-hour lunch break, and during 1 hour of that on Tuesdays, he's getting some extra help with his French. There are a few other kids from his class who also have the extra class, and I think it will be a good thing for him. The hope is that he'll be able to understand what's happening in his regular French class, enough to follow directions and such. Right now, he's in French as a Foreign Language for the whole day, and they'd like to mainstream him into the regular class for part of the afternoon.

Lydia is enjoying school and speaking some more French. She's been working hard on reading, mostly just on her own. When we read stories now, she tries to pick out words, and does pretty well at it. She can usually tell what the first letter of a word is, and is making progress figuring out the rest of words. She still loves to dance and sing, and gives everyone a run for their money as far as her energy level!

Caleb is graduating to a big boy bed! We're not hard and fast yet on it, but the past couple of nights, he's chosen to sleep in the bunk bed rather than his crib. It's amazing how he's growing up! He's been enjoying his daycare playgroup one morning a week. He still cries for us when we leave, but it's become the show, just to let us know that he doesn't want us to go. Once we leave, he has a great time. I guess he's already gone through his supply of snacks that we brought for him, so we have to restock those when we go next week. Some things never change!

Faith is changing and growing, of course, and is about as pleasant as can be. She loves laughing and playing with her brothers and sister. They, in turn, love to make googly eyes at her. She's recently found her feet, which is always cute. She plays with them through her sleepers, but especially loves it at diaper-changing time, when she can see her toes. Quite often they'll illicit a giggle from her. I'm sure it will develop now, but right now she has a funny laugh. It reminds me a bit of Marge Simpson's sisters. It makes me laugh to hear her. :-)

As always, you can see pictures of them on our Picasa site.
