French Consulate Appointment

Well, after all the hubbub that occurred earlier this week, and the experience we've been having with getting things to happen for the move to France, we had no idea when we would receive a call back from the French Consulate. Thankfully, they called this morning, and everything is in order for us to come to Chicago for an interview to apply for our visas, the last step in this process (besides buying plane tickets and moving), which will take 1-2 weeks to arrive. Also thankfully, only Matt and I have to appear, not the kids, so that will make the trip less stressful. It will mean figuring out childcare, but that's nothing to driving 8 hours in one day with them!

After Matt got off the phone with the Consulate, he went online to book an appointment. The first one we could schedule was on January 5. That meant there was no way for us to get to France in time for Matt to begin on January 14. So, Matt decided to think about it before booking. While he was in the shower, I thought maybe we should just check the dates again. Who knows, maybe someone just made a cancellation. Well, lo and behold, there was an opening on Monday at 10:30! What a blessing! It was really providential. So, we've booked that date and time, and we'll be going to Chicago on Monday to apply for visas!
